Rapchat iOS 12.5.0 is built around one idea: make it easier for artists to create momentum together.

This release adds community challenge hosting, cleaner message filtering, and a stack of fixes across challenge pages, profiles, recording, and app performance. When the update is available on your App Store, update Rapchat on iOS and start creating.

Host your own community challenge

Challenges have always been one of the fastest ways to get artists recording. Now creators can host challenges themselves.

With community challenges, you can create a challenge, add artwork, share the challenge link, and collect song submissions from other artists. Producers can use it to get verses over a beat. Artists can use it to start a hook challenge, remix idea, or themed contest with their fans.

The flow is simple: open Challenges, create a challenge, fill in the details, add cover and logo artwork, then share the link. Your hosted challenges live in a dedicated Hosted tab so you can find them again quickly.

Cleaner messages with Primary and Other tabs

Your inbox now separates higher-signal conversations from message requests.

The new Primary and Other message tabs help keep real conversations easier to find. Requests from people you do not follow can land outside your main conversation list, and replying moves the chat into Primary. It is a small change, but it should make the inbox feel calmer for artists getting a lot of cold DMs.

Better challenge pages

Challenge pages now carry more context about who is hosting and what you can do next.

Community challenges show a host chip like Hosted by @username, and tapping it opens the host profile. Challenge owners and admins also get clearer controls to edit, end, delete, and share a challenge from the detail page.

We also tightened the challenge list refresh behavior so hosted, community, and official challenge tabs do not get stuck after a create, edit, or delete.

Studio and recording fixes

We fixed recording stability around mic and headphone route changes, including cases where changing audio routes mid-session could cause invalid input formats before the audio engine connected.

There are also smaller improvements throughout the release: profile activity badge flicker is reduced, unread activity badges update more predictably, expired active challenges no longer block new challenge creation, and performance fixes from the API and web stack are included behind the scenes.
